Oakwell Farms: A Brief History
What was once a dairy farm, owner Robert Tobin (a San Antonio legend) eventually began cattle and sheep ranching in the area. Contrary to the rumors Oakwell Farms did not get its name from the centuries-old oak that appear throughout the area. The name was taken from 16th century Oakwell Hall, Yorkshire, England, the ancestral home of Margaret Batts Tobin, Robert Tobin’s mother.
The Oakwell area has a very rich historical story and beautiful scenery of centuries-old oak trees, decedent creek beds and an abundance of wildlife.
