Problem-solving is practically part of Lou’s DNA, as he comes from a family of engineers, accountants, and doctors. When he discovered the financial planning industry, he was immediately fascinated by all there was to know and how variables interact to ensure all the pieces of a person’s financial ecosystem work together efficiently.

Having found his wheelhouse, Lou strove from then on to learn as much as he could about each puzzle piece of financial planning. He sought out mentors, brought forward creative solutions, and partnered with other experts to improve and excel in the industry. When he earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification, he became one of the youngest CFPs in the country.

Through a combination of hard work, patience, and a little bit of luck, Lou landed a role as manager of the Austin branch of a prominent investment firm. While he enjoyed learning from others during this eye-opening experience, he was not feeling professionally fulfilled.

Lou genuinely cares about his clients as people before anything else and is fully vested in their success. He setout and helped found Oakwell as an independent firm created and developed with client needs and best interests in mind.

Oakwell is competitive on pricing because we cut the middleman and continuously streamline our processes. By maintaining a low client-to-advisor ratio and working as a team for each client’s benefit, Oakwell develops personal relationships with our clients and knows their needs implicitly. Lou’s clients can enjoy being guided by someone with a deep understanding of their financial journey.

Lou is fiercely loyal to his clients, and as a family man, this carries into his personal life. He spends time with his wife, Allison, and their three children whenever he can. Lou also loves sports, especially soccer, and enjoys trying new restaurants around Austin.

First meetings can often be awkward, formal, and reserved, but that is not the case with Richard Robbins. Richard will greet you with an enthusiastic handshake and a mile-wide smile that makes you feel like you’ve known one another for decades.

Richard attended Texas A&M University, a school as rich in tradition as Luling, Texas, his small and charming hometown. At his job at one of the university’s retail stores, Richard learned how and why knowing your numbers is so vital to running a successful business. He thrived in his role and was later promoted to the buyer and general manager of all three locations. As his responsibilities grew, so did his skills in evaluating the cash flows and identifying opportunities to help the business and owners profit.

An Aggie to the core, Richard loved being in College Station. However, when his wife’s career prompted a move to New Braunfels, Texas, he took the opportunity to make a career move and pair his desire to help people with his ability to understand small business financials. After working at a large financial firm for a while, Richard wanted to do more than just managing investments. He went back to his roots – steeped in tradition – and became a partner at Oakwell Private Wealth Management to help his clients navigate their financial plans and reach their financial goals.

At Oakwell, Richard has the autonomy to invest his time in growing meaningful relationships with his clients, achieving their objectives, and helping them climb new branches of success. His CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation helps him focus on helping business owners and individuals identify their goals and institute a personalized plan to achieve them.

When Richard is not busy raising the bar of service at Oakwell Private Wealth Management, he can be found courtside, cheering on his daughter Avery’s volleyball team, or on the sidelines of his son Clay’s football games. While he loves his family, a very close second is his yard. After a long day at the office, he will decompress with a lap on the mower. Just like his dad instilled in him as a young boy, “if you are going to do something, take pride in it!” That seed has grown to positively affect his family, his career, Oakwell, and yes, his yard!

Brian Boswell is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional with Oakwell Private Wealth Management, where he helps business owners and professionals with retirement planning and investment management.  While Brian serves people working in a wide variety of industries, he has a soft spot for healthcare workers because his wife is an OBGYN in Round Rock. His deep expertise and personal connection to the healthcare industry have given him an unmatched understanding of the unique challenges physicians face.

Brian also heads Oakwell 401(k) Plans and has developed the resources and skills to provide business owners with the right retirement plan for their specific goals. Brian completed the Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) program through the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA). This designation helps advisors better maximize plan design and navigate the complex regulatory and compliance environment of 401(k) plans.

Upon graduating from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, Brian immediately entered the financial services industry, working for both the largest independent broker-dealer and a Fortune 500 company.  However, making quarterly numbers and selling products was not how Brian wanted to provide financial advisory services. In February of 2015, Brian helped create Oakwell Private Wealth Management to offer his clients truly independent advice based on their objectives, needs, and overall financial goals.

When he’s not taking care of clients, Brian can be found spending time with his high school sweetheart, Katie Boswell, MD, or coaching his daughter’s basketball & soccer teams. They recently welcomed a new son, Bear, in May of 2021 and are enjoying getting to know him.  When not working or playing sports, the Boswell family can be found at their hunting ranch in the Texas Hill Country.
